Jessica Amy Schnur Thomas, 40, of Clinton, died Friday, Nov. 24. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of Alan Schnur and Deborah (Skal) Schnur. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother Craig Schnur of Middletown; her twin brother Jason Schnur of Newington; her grandmother Doris Schnur of West Hartford; her nephew Anthony Schnur of Wethersfield; her aunts and uncles, Donald and Toni Schnur of West Hartford, Elizabeth and Mark Lucyk of West Hartford, David and Nancy Skal of East Hartford, and Sharon Anderson of Plainville; and numerous cousins and friends. She was also predeceased by her grandfather William Schnur, her grandmother Erma Skal, her aunt Maurine Arsenault and her uncle Michael Schnur.

N.J., she was the daughter of the late Jack and Sophie (Schultz) Permutt. She is survived by her children, Mindy Saffran Russo and her husband Peter Sanchez, Paul Saffran, Jeffrey Saffran, Robert Saffran and Larry Saffran and his wife Linda; and her grandchildren, Scott, Sage and Saunder Saffran. Rubin Potoff, 94, of North Franklin, formerly of West Hartford, died Nov. 15. He was the beloved widower of Gilda R. Potoff. Born in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Kaplan) Potoff. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Battle in the Army Air Corps. He is survived by his children, Stephen Potoff and his wife Deborah of Wellsley, Mass., Susan Neufeld and her husband Michael of Orange, Lynn C. Potoff of Wells, Me., Jayne Civitello and her husband Michael of North Franklin, Joseph A. Potoff of Middletown, and Carol Buell and her husband Douglas of Thomaston; his grandchildren, Sara Neufeld and her husband Chris Clemens of New York, Heather Neufeld of New York, Ryan Potoff and his wife Maya of California, George Potoff of Colorado, Anthony Buell of Thomaston; and his great-grandsons, Maceo and Paxton Clemens of New York. She escaped the Holocaust. She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom in Manchester. She is survived by her children, Pola Fialkoff and her partner Catherine Carter-Hancock, and Bernard Fialkoff and his wife Maria; her grandchildren, Kimberly Handleman and her husband Damon Wiener, and Jason, Meghan and Scott Fialkoff; and her great-grandchildren, Evan, Joshua and Alexandra. Solomon Golanski, 97, of West Hartford, formerly of Hartford, died Nov. 27. He was the widower of Etta (Sherman) Golanski. Born in Novogrudok, Poland, he was a Holocaust survivor. He was imprisoned in a labor camp during the war where he and other prisoners secretly dug a tunnel below the camp fence that led into the forest. Along with more than 100 other prisoners, he escaped one night into the woods, where he joined the Bielski Partisans. He is survived by his son Alani and his wife Gina; and his grandchildren, Creeley and Cy.
